The Beacom School of Business is the region’s leader in business education offering a quality program that is fully accredited by AACSB International. Major in Accounting, Agribusiness Leadership, Business Administration, Business Analytics, Economics, Finance, Health Services Administration, Human Resource Management, Innovation & Entrepreneurship, Management, Marketing, or Supply Chain Management. Coyote Assistance- Rides to the grocery store.
Rides will leave from the Al Neuharth Media Center and travel to Walmart and Hy-Vee. You must sign up for a time slot to use the service using the RSVP for this event. There are a limited number of spots available for each scheduled time. Sign up will close when the number of slots have been filled or 30 minutes before the scheduled departure. Signing up only commits you to a single time slot, not a recurring appointment. No waitlist will be kept. Rides will leave promptly at the scheduled time from the Al Neuharth Media Center and participants are expected to be ready at the designated pickup location (Walmart or Hy-Vee) for the scheduled trip back to campus.

Please bring your student ID and arrive at least 10 minutes before the scheduled departure time. This service is open to current USD students only.

Coyote Dining by Sodexo serves high quality food with a memorable experience at The University of South Dakota. Catering Orders can be placed online or at usdcatering.usa@sodexo.com. The online menu can be found here: University of South Dakota - Catering - Vermillion, SD (catertrax.com)

Sodexo can also assist with Linen Orders (Tablecloths) and other event rental equipment.

The Dean of Students Office has negotiated a working relationship with Sodexo that should allow you to utilize your funding better and still meet Sodexo food guidelines. We have developed this page as a place to access resources and information about food services for student organizations.

Student Organization Guide to Food at Programs

Sodexo has exclusive rights to provide food on campus per the contract with SD BOR and USD.
Student orgs should ask for the student guide menu and pricing and place orders 30 days in advance whenever possible. The student guide costs mean students pick up food and provide own table covering, set up and serve their own food. Also know that amounts of food will be exact to what you order – please review guide carefully.
If students want to get food from an off campus vendor due to cost, authentic cuisine, etc. they must complete an exemption form. Important things to remember: Food must be transported by the restaurant and be certified safe upon arrival to campus by temperature checks. The exemption must include why you wish to go off campus, how food will be transported, cost differential comparing Sodexo and off campus vendor. Importance to event. Forms are available on Coyote One Stop.
Any student group wanting to do a pot luck or transport food, you provide food and assume liability for food safety, must go through training to ensure safe food. https://onfocussolutions.com/exam_reg/?ee=2874. Training cost $15 and is good for 3 years. You must show certification to Dean of Students office for approval.
Student groups can use chaffing dishes, hot boxes and thermal boxes to transport food from Sodexo if they are available – contact James Ubillos at 109 MUC or James.Ubillos@sodexo.com. Use the equipment reservation form for this.
Students groups who want to cook for an event, may be able to use the Sodexo kitchen – but only if all food and ingredients are sourced through Sodexo.
For reimbursement – students must submit receipt and certification for the $15 course. For food items must submit a signed receipt that is itemized.

The Office of Service Learning (OSL) assists students on their journey to becoming a community collaborator by fostering a relationship between the USD campus and the Vermillion community and by connecting USD students with worthwhile, hands-on volunteer experiences with community partners.

Eligibility Requirements

Because our program is funded by the U.S. Department of Education, students must meet certain eligibility requirements. To participate, a student must meet at least one of the following criteria:
Taxable income (not annual or adjusted gross income) meets the federal low income eligibility guidelines
Be a first-generation college student, meaning neither parent has a four-year college degree
Have a documented disability
Each participant must meet all of the following criteria:
Be enrolled in classes at the Vermillion campus
Be a citizen or national of the U.S., or meet the residency requirements for federal student financial assistance
Demonstrate an academic need. This need will be assessed on an individual basis and may include an evaluation of college GPA, admission requirements for one's degree program, high school grades, ACT scores, and/or English proficiency.

"What is the Writing Center?"



We provide writers with help on all aspects of writing, from developing ideas to revising and polishing their pieces. This free service is available to students, faculty, and staff at the University of South Dakota.



"What happens in a session at the Writing Center?"



Bring your writing and any assignment instructions that your instructor may have provided. After reading through your writing and viewing the assignment together, we'll discuss your concerns. We'll spend a lot of time talking, but it's also likely that you'll do some writing. We may direct you to further resources at the end of a session. The questions our consultants ask will show you how your writing is coming across to the reader; the skills they teach you will help you to communicate your ideas more clearly and effectively.



"What if I haven't started writing yet? I'm stuck and don't know what to write!"



Even if you haven't begun writing yet, our writing consultants can help you develop a focus and a plan for your writing so that you can get started. Once you've developed a draft (even if the draft isn't done), you are welcome to come back and get additional assistance.



"Do you help with other kinds of writing?"



We assist with all kinds of writing: academic essays; homework that involves writing; MA theses and dissertations; and other kinds of writing, such as short stories, poems, résumés, reports, and business documents. We also help writers with integrating sources and avoiding plagiarism, as well as using documentation styles (APA, MLA, Chicago, and so on).



"Can you fix my grammar, spelling errors, and typos?"



Although the Writing Center doesn't proofread or edit writers' papers, we do help writers develop proofreading and editing skills. In other words, we help you learn how to identify problem areas in your writing and come up with strategies for revising and editing. Our goal is to support your long-term development as a writer, giving you new skills to use in future writing projects.



"How do I make an appointment? Can I just stop in without making an appointment?"



While we welcome walk-ins on campus, we recommend making an appointment. Call 605- 658-6855, email wcenter@usd.edu, or see scheduling info above. Make a 30- or 60-minute appointment (up to an hour a day).
