The purpose of the Best Buddies program is to promote inclusivity and meaningful friendships among USD students and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) who are supported by SESDAC. Students are paired with an individual with IDD who has similar interests. The pairs commit to Best Buddies for one school year. Pairs interact at least 1x/week via phone, online, or in person. Pairs co-plan for and participate in group activities one time per month. The Best Buddies program encourages pairs to include friends and family in activities.

These consistent interactions and person-centered activities foster the development of meaningful, long-term friendships between students and individuals with IDD. For more details, see https://www.bestbuddies.org/what-we-do/friendship/.

What: Nope, we’re not Greek Life. Chi Alpha is a campus ministry that exists to help students grow in the Great Commission call to go and make disciples of all nations.

Who: In the Bible, the apostle Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 5:20, "We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God."
Our movement of campus ministries finds its identity in this passage. We believe that God longs to have each and every person be reconciled to Himself, and that the way that re-connection happens is through his people. Each of us who takes on the identity of “Christian” becomes Christ’s ambassador – or christou apostoloi in Greek, which we shorten to the first letters “Chi” and “Alpha” or XA. Our name is our constant reminder that each of us has a real part to play in this world. We each can carry Him within us to bring Him closer to the people around us.

How: When you connect with Chi Alpha, you will find a community of worship, discipleship, prayer, fellowship and mission. These elements are built in the context of relationship: individual friendships, small group communities and the larger community as a whole. In Chi Alpha you’ll be challenged to grow as a follower of Christ, and you just might be surprised at how much fun you can have doing it! The Council for Exceptional Children is a special education organization that works with children that have special needs. We do various service projects for the community that targets individuals with special needs and their families. We meet once a month to work on these community projects as well as learn from speakers and each other about ways to support individuals with special needs. Our group brings together members of all majors who advocate and support people with all different abilities.

We are a student led organization that exists to encourage the joy of dancing, specifically country swing, line dancing, and West Coast Swing. There is no required knowledge or skill level to join - just a willingness to try new things! Our practices are Monday nights from 8-9pm in the USD Wellness Center, room 112 (the large workout room). We host dances once a month in the Vermillion area, often right on USD's campus! Do you want to learn more about investing? Do you enjoy collaborating and working with a great team? This is the club for you! Coyote Capital Management (CCM) is a student-managed investment organization dedicated to preparing students for the investment world of tomorrow through hands-on experience today. Through the development of automated financial models using Bloomberg Terminals in our Ellis Finance and Analytics Lab, thoughtful discussions, and dedicated members, CCM constantly works toward its objective of long-term capital growth. All investments, activity, and decisions are decided and voted on by students under the supervision and guidance of faculty advisors.





In 2001, CCM was created through a generous donation from Larry Ness, Chairman of First Dakota National Bank. Starting from $10,000, the portfolio now has now grown to approximately $4.3 Million under management through skilled student decision and continued support from the Beacom School of Business and alumni alike. CCM has 3 portfolios, all directly managed by the students on behalf of the USD Foundation and the Beacom School of Business.





All students are welcomed and encouraged to join CCM, regardless of grade level, experience, or major. CCM members develop skills that are sought after in the workplace such as public speaking, critical thinking, and teamwork. These skills transfer well into any career regardless of discipline. For members that specialize in Finance, there are ample opportunities to learn the ins and outs of the industry. CCM Alumni hold front office positions at some of the premier financial institutions in the country such as Goldman Sachs, Wells Fargo, Deloitte, and Bain Capital.
