Bangladesh Student Association (BSA) at the University of South Dakota is a platform for students and faculty to come together, celebrate, and represent Bangladeshi culture through different cultural activities. BSA does not follow any discriminatory practice as an organization. Any student of USD is welcomed in BSA to be a member and join all of the events organized by BSA. BSA also plays a vital role by offering voluntary services and support to its members. We welcome new Bangladeshi students and try our best to assist them in coping with campus life and local culture. We aim to give our members the feeling of having an extended family and a dependable support system while living thousands of miles away from home. We also collaborate with friends from other cultural ethnicities on social and cultural grounds.

This organization shall provide social, educational, and enrichment opportunities for students who are the first in their family to go to college or anyone interested in supporting first-generation college students. For the purposes of this student organization, the federal definition of “first generation college student” will be used:



An individual both of whose parents did not complete a baccalaureate degree; or
In the case of any individual who regularly resides with and received support from only on parent, an individual whose only such parent did not complete a baccalaureate degree.
Being a first-generation college student is not required for membership.

The Nepalese Student Association (NSA) at the University of South Dakota (USD) is a non-profit, non-political, and non-religious organization dedicated to promoting the social, cultural, economic, and professional development of its members. NSA fosters community among Nepalese students at USD by organizing events, workshops, and cultural festivities, while also assisting new students in adapting to campus life and American culture. The organization also aims to build relationships within the broader USD community, supporting educational and cultural activities that benefit students, alumni, and the local community.

Tiospaye Student Council began in 1957 as the Wapaha Club when a group of American Indian students at USD became concerned about student life and retention of Native students at USD. They worked to provide assistance and orientation to Native students, while encouraging American Indian high school students to attend college. Wapaha Club also strived to bring an enhanced understanding of Native American history and culture to USD. 53 years later Tiospaye continues to uphold the objectives and values bestowed by the Wapaha Club. Tiospaye also hosts one of the largest cultural events on campus, the annual Wacipi, held in the spring.

Spectrum is devoted to promoting awareness and understanding of LGBTQIA+ issues and providing a positive campus environment for LGBTQ+ students. Our meetings provide LGBTQIA+ students and their allies a space to share experiences, have group discussions, create art, have fun, and build relationships around campus. All are welcome! Meetings Every Monday at 6:30 pm in MUC 219
