Hello! Thank you for the interest in Anesthesiology Interest Group. We are an organization aiming to help interested colleagues explore the field of anesthesiology. We are a composed primarily of medical students interested in a career in the field, but of course we welcome anyone (undergraduates included) interested in learning more about anesthesiology to participate in our group events. This group is a resource to learn more about the field, practice and develop procedural skills seen in anesthesiology, and seek out mentorship related to residency and careers as an anesthesiologist. Please do not hesitate to reach out to any of our executive committee with questions!

The Coyote Clinic is a student-run clinic that provides free health care services to the uninsured members of the greater Sioux Falls community and is located in downtown Sioux Falls. The clinic provides services in primary care, acute care, and sports physicals every Tuesday from 5:30 – 7pm as well as psychiatric care to both adolescents and adults the first Wednesday of every month. Walk-in appointments are welcome.



The Coyote Clinic empowers Sanford School of Medicine medical students to serve in a primary care role to patientswhile under the supervision of local physicians. The clinic fosters a commitment to community service among medical students and is an opportunity for them to develop as leaders. As students, it is our goal to empower underserved patients, ensure autonomy in health care, and advocate for the well-being of our Sioux Falls community through collaborative, interdisciplinary healthcare teams.



How students can get involved:

If you’re interested in providing care to the Sioux Falls community during our regular clinic hours, there are opportunities to sign up throughout the school year. Beyond the Coyote Clinic, students can get involved through additional community outreach events, including:

• Bishop Dudley Hospitality House Primary Care Visits (every Monday evening)
• The Banquet Blood Pressure Monitoring Program
• Department of Health: Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) Screenings
• Influenza Vaccine Drive
• Health Fair Screening Services

South Dakota undergraduate students are invited to volunteer with medical students at the Coyote Clinic by participating in our Undergraduate Internship. We have also incorporated USD nursing students into our internal medicine nights for a fully multi-disciplinary approach. Please contact us for more information!

Purpose Statement:
The USD HealthPath Network (HPN) aims to unite students from diverse pre-health disciplines, including pre-med, pre-dental, medical laboratory science, and many others, in a unified space that fosters exploration, communication, and collaboration. Through shared resources, experiences, and insights, we provide opportunities for students to engage with professionals, discover a range of healthcare careers, and build the skills needed to succeed in their chosen paths. The HPN seeks to create an inclusive, interactive community where pre-health majors can explore their interests, network, shadow professionals, receive mentorship, and ultimately find where they fit within the broad spectrum of healthcare professions.

To support incoming freshmen, the HPN will offer start-of-the-year events and meetings specifically designed to help them explore the diverse opportunities within the pre-health field and guide them in finding their place. Upperclassmen will serve as mentors, offering guidance and sharing their experiences to help freshmen and younger students navigate their academic and professional journey. Additionally, the HPN will work closely with other pre-health-related clubs on campus to help students explore which organizations they may want to join and pursue, ensuring that each student finds a community that aligns with their interests. By fostering stronger connections across the medical and healthcare fields, the HPN empowers students to make informed decisions and prepare for successful careers in health.



Communication Between Clubs:
Each club involved in the HPN will have a representative on the HPN board to ensure that every discipline is properly represented. This board will meet regularly to discuss upcoming events, collaborate on shared activities, and address student needs. Each member of the board will bring updates, event ideas, and concerns from their respective clubs, ensuring a cross-disciplinary dialogue.

We will coordinate bi-weekly or monthly meetings that are accessible to all students by considering flexible scheduling and a hybrid format to accommodate varying schedules. Additionally, each club’s leadership will have access to a shared digital platform (like a group chat or collaboration board) where members can post event announcements, volunteer opportunities, and discussions for cross-club engagement.

USD Medical Students for Choice is an educational group that provides students the opportunity to learn about reproductive health - including abortion, birth control, and gender-affirming care - and how to become physicians that support reproductive health care access and choice for all patients. Specifically, we focus on the importance of evidence-based medicine in providing compassionate, ethical, and accessible healthcare to all patients.


We hold educational workshops with faculty and informational sessions with local and national pro-choice groups. We support family planning and abortion training in the school's curriculum and work to create a network of pro-choice students, faculty, staff, residents, and physicians in South Dakota. We welcome all Sanford School of Medicine students and faculty - as well as those from the undergraduate and graduate level - as members, and our events are open to all individuals interested in reproductive healthcare.

Physicians for Human Rights works to document human rights violations, give voice to survivors and witnesses, and hold perpetrators accountable for their crimes. The University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine Physicians for Human Rights chapter aims to educate medical students on ways to advocate for human rights as a medical professional through documentation, empowerment, and advocacy. Please join us in discussions about a variety of topics including: food insecurity, racial injustice, refugee crises, asylum and persecution, killings/mass atrocities, and sexual violence. We plan to host discussions, presentations, journal/book clubs, documentary screenings, and other events to better educate ourselves on these important topics.
