Bangladesh Student Association (BSA) at the University of South Dakota is a platform for students and faculty to come together, celebrate, and represent Bangladeshi culture through different cultural activities. The purpose of the Best Buddies program is to promote inclusivity and meaningful friendships among USD students and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) who are supported by SESDAC. Students are paired with an individual with IDD who has similar interests. The pairs commit to Best Buddies for one school year. Pairs interact at least 1x/week via phone, online, or in person. Pairs co-plan for and participate in group activities one time per month. The Best Buddies program encourages pairs to include friends and family in activities.

What: Nope, we’re not Greek Life. Chi Alpha is a campus ministry that exists to help students grow in the Great Commission call to go and make disciples of all nations.

Who: In the Bible, the apostle Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 5:20, "We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God."
Our movement of campus ministries finds its identity in this passage. We believe that God longs to have each and every person be reconciled to Himself, and that the way that re-connection happens is through his people. Each of us who takes on the identity of “Christian” becomes Christ’s ambassador – or christou apostoloi in Greek, which we shorten to the first letters “Chi” and “Alpha” or XA. Our name is our constant reminder that each of us has a real part to play in this world. We each can carry Him within us to bring Him closer to the people around us.

Coyote Assistance- Rides to the grocery store.
Rides will leave from the Al Neuharth Media Center and travel to Walmart and Hy-Vee. You must sign up for a time slot to use the service using the RSVP for this event. There are a limited number of spots available for each scheduled time. Sign up will close when the number of slots have been filled or 30 minutes before the scheduled departure. Signing up only commits you to a single time slot, not a recurring appointment. No waitlist will be kept. Rides will leave promptly at the scheduled time from the Al Neuharth Media Center and participants are expected to be ready at the designated pickup location (Walmart or Hy-Vee) for the scheduled trip back to campus.

Please bring your student ID and arrive at least 10 minutes before the scheduled departure time. This service is open to current USD students only.

Coyote Capital Management (CCM) is a student-managed investment organization dedicated to preparing students for the investment world of tomorrow through hands-on experience today. Through the development of automated financial models using Bloomberg Terminals in our Ellis Finance and Analytics Lab, thoughtful discussions, and dedicated members, CCM constantly works toward its objective of long-term capital growth. All investments, activity, and decisions are decided and voted on by students under the supervision and guidance of faculty advisors.





In 2001, CCM was created through a generous donation from Larry Ness, Chairman of First Dakota National Bank. Starting from $10,000, the portfolio now has now grown to approximately $4.3 Million under management through skilled student decision and continued support from the Beacom School of Business and alumni alike. CCM has 3 portfolios, all directly managed by the students on behalf of the USD Foundation and the Beacom School of Business.





All students are welcomed and encouraged to join CCM, regardless of grade level, experience, or major. CCM members develop skills that are sought after in the workplace such as public speaking, critical thinking, and teamwork. These skills transfer well into any career regardless of discipline. For members that specialize in Finance, there are ample opportunities to learn the ins and outs of the industry. CCM Alumni hold front office positions at some of the premier financial institutions in the country such as Goldman Sachs, Wells Fargo, Deloitte, and Bain Capital. The Coyote Clinic is a student-run clinic that provides free health care services to the uninsured members of the greater Sioux Falls community and is located in downtown Sioux Falls. The clinic provides services in primary care, acute care, and sports physicals every Tuesday from 5:30 – 7pm as well as psychiatric care to both adolescents and adults the first Wednesday of every month. Walk-in appointments are welcome.



The Coyote Clinic empowers Sanford School of Medicine medical students to serve in a primary care role to patientswhile under the supervision of local physicians. The clinic fosters a commitment to community service among medical students and is an opportunity for them to develop as leaders. As students, it is our goal to empower underserved patients, ensure autonomy in health care, and advocate for the well-being of our Sioux Falls community through collaborative, interdisciplinary healthcare teams.



How students can get involved:

If you’re interested in providing care to the Sioux Falls community during our regular clinic hours, there are opportunities to sign up throughout the school year. Beyond the Coyote Clinic, students can get involved through additional community outreach events, including:

South Dakota undergraduate students are invited to volunteer with medical students at the Coyote Clinic by participating in our Undergraduate Internship. The Dean of Students Office has negotiated a working relationship with Sodexo that should allow you to utilize your funding better and still meet Sodexo food guidelines. We have developed this page as a place to access resources and information about food services for student organizations.

Student Organization Guide to Food at Programs

Sodexo has exclusive rights to provide food on campus per the contract with SD BOR and USD.
Student orgs should ask for the student guide menu and pricing and place orders 30 days in advance whenever possible. The student guide costs mean students pick up food and provide own table covering, set up and serve their own food. Also know that amounts of food will be exact to what you order – please review guide carefully.
If students want to get food from an off campus vendor due to cost, authentic cuisine, etc. they must complete an exemption form. Important things to remember: Food must be transported by the restaurant and be certified safe upon arrival to campus by temperature checks. The exemption must include why you wish to go off campus, how food will be transported, cost differential comparing Sodexo and off campus vendor. Importance to event. Forms are available on Coyote One Stop.
Any student group wanting to do a pot luck or transport food, you provide food and assume liability for food safety, must go through training to ensure safe food. https://onfocussolutions.com/exam_reg/?ee=2874. Training cost $15 and is good for 3 years. You must show certification to Dean of Students office for approval.
Student groups can use chaffing dishes, hot boxes and thermal boxes to transport food from Sodexo if they are available – contact James Ubillos at 109 MUC or James.Ubillos@sodexo.com. Use the equipment reservation form for this.
Students groups who want to cook for an event, may be able to use the Sodexo kitchen – but only if all food and ingredients are sourced through Sodexo.
For reimbursement – students must submit receipt and certification for the $15 course. For food items must submit a signed receipt that is itemized.

The University of South Dakota Officials Association (USDOA) is a sport club student organization at the University of South Dakota, which is committed to providing student development opportunities in officiating while serving our clients in a professional manner.

All members are current or former Intramural Sports officials at USD. These officials vary in experience from officials who work a full varsity schedule to young intramural officials who have minimal experience wanting to improve their skills at this rewarding profession.

Members can hold an elected position in the association, administer tournaments and special events, travel to extramural tournaments, make extra money and receive awards for their contribution, hard work and dedication. The Coyote Sprout Society (C.S.S.) is a student-led organization at the University of South Dakota built around a shared love of plants, sustainability, and creativity. This year, C.S.S. is partnering with Amy Fill, Gallery Coordinator of the Fine Arts Building, to help breathe new life into the USD Sculpture Garden, transforming it into a living space that blends art, ecology, and education. We also collaborate with the USD Environmental Club and County Commissioner Geoffrey Gray-Lobe, who works with the South Dakota Department of Game, Fish & Parks at Spirit Mound Historic Prairie. We proudly describe ourselves as a low-commitment but high-participation club. We understand that students are busy and that academic success always comes first — so our meetings are designed to be flexible, relaxing, and fun. Despite the flexible structure, our members consistently show up to meetings, events, and volunteer opportunities because they care deeply about what we do and what we’re growing together.

Our club thrives on the dedication of our student leaders and members, who not only volunteer their time but also donate supplies, propagate plants, and share knowledge with others. We are currently working toward creating “living heirlooms” — long-term plant and garden projects that will be cared for and passed down to future generations of Coyotes, serving as symbols of growth, sustainability, and community.

Ultimately, the Coyote Sprout Society is about growth — of plants, of people, and of friendships. We want every member to leave our meetings feeling lighter, more inspired, and more connected. Our club's purpose is to raise awareness for warriors with Cystic Fibrosis. Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic condition that causes damage to the lungs, digestive system, and other organs throughout the body. It is life-limiting and creates daily life challenges. Dakotathon is a yearlong fundraiser for Children's Miracle Network that culminates with a 12-hour dance marathon on April 18th of 2026. At this marathon, we invite Miracle Children from around the region to come spend the entire time with us learning a dance, playing games, listening to concerts, eating a bunch of food and much more! The purpose of the event is to show the Miracle Children the time of their lives away from their normal routine of clinical visits and checkups of that sort.

The organization part of Dakotathon deals with the Executive Team planning and organizing fundraisers both on and off campus throughout the year – those who sign up to participate in the Marathon are asked and encouraged to attend all these fundraisers. Additionally, those who sign up are asked to raise a personal fundraising goal of $200 (which is not a lot considering you have the whole year to fundraise!!).

Last year Dakotathon had over 500 students participate and raised over $100,000!

The purpose of the University of South Dakota Dance Club is to be a student-led and student choreographed club open to all levels of dancers. The club will explore a variety of styles such as jazz, contemporary, and hip hop. The goal of the club is to encourage creativity and collaboration, improving and learning new dance skills and/or techniques, trying new styles of dance, as well as being a fun, welcoming place to get moving. The USD HealthPath Network (HPN) aims to unite students from diverse pre-health disciplines, including pre-med, pre-dental, medical laboratory science, and many others, in a unified space that fosters exploration, communication, and collaboration. Through shared resources, experiences, and insights, we provide opportunities for students to engage with professionals, discover a range of healthcare careers, and build the skills needed to succeed in their chosen paths. The HPN seeks to create an inclusive, interactive community where pre-health majors can explore their interests, network, shadow professionals, receive mentorship, and ultimately find where they fit within the broad spectrum of healthcare professions.

To support incoming freshmen, the HPN will offer start-of-the-year events and meetings specifically designed to help them explore the diverse opportunities within the pre-health field and guide them in finding their place. Upperclassmen will serve as mentors, offering guidance and sharing their experiences to help freshmen and younger students navigate their academic and professional journey. Additionally, the HPN will work closely with other pre-health-related clubs on campus to help students explore which organizations they may want to join and pursue, ensuring that each student finds a community that aligns with their interests. By fostering stronger connections across the medical and healthcare fields, the HPN empowers students to make informed decisions and prepare for successful careers in health.



Communication Between Clubs:
Each club involved in the HPN will have a representative on the HPN board to ensure that every discipline is properly represented. This board will meet regularly to discuss upcoming events, collaborate on shared activities, and address student needs. Each member of the board will bring updates, event ideas, and concerns from their respective clubs, ensuring a cross-disciplinary dialogue.

We will coordinate bi-weekly or monthly meetings that are accessible to all students by considering flexible scheduling and a hybrid format to accommodate varying schedules. USD International Dance Club is an interesting and enjoyable club that focuses on dance, moves, and hidden dancing abilities that everyone possesses. The more one can vibe and feel the music, beats, and timing, the better one can move with the flow of music. There are many different types of dance, and each one is associated with a different set of factors. Because USD is a cultural melting pot where students from various nationalities and cultural backgrounds come to study, they bring with them their own unique dancing styles and moves. The only thing needed here is a platform where students can exchange dance skills and collaborate to create a beautiful dance. This platform will be provided by USD International Dance Club. Along with fostering dancing abilities, the club ensures the performance of culturally based dance so that, despite being far from home and homies, each student has the opportunity to celebrate their festive time in their own unique way with one another. They can dress in their traditional attire and dance as they did in their home countries. Dancing is an art form. Some students have exceptional dancing abilities. Such students should be given the opportunity to demonstrate their abilities in front of a large audience and receive praise and encouragement. USD may have such a student. As a result, USD International Dance Club assists in capturing dancing talent and winning the hearts of a large number of people. The club hopes to influence and encourage a large number of students in the field of dance in the future.

USD Intertribal Hand Games Club is a student organization to uphold the Intertribal tradition of Hand Games. It is to share in community building and culture sharing while having fun playing hand games.



If you are unfamiliar with Indigenous hand games, at its core: hand games is a guessing game with two teams. One hides and the other guesses, the hiding team scores the points while the guessing team tries to win to become the hiding team in order to win points. There are two hiders on the hiding team and one guesser on the guessing team, which are chosen by the respective team captains and can be switched at any time by said captains.

The rest of the hiding team members attempt to sing hand games songs, play the hand drum, clap, dance, wave, Warhoop, shout to distract the guessing team members from guessing correctly. The guessing team members work together with the team captain to give advice on the correct guess. It is a game of teamwork, psychology and intuition. The details and rules of the game differ dependent on the tribe’s style.



There are numerous styles of hand games dependent on the tribe and the region and we are welcome to sharing and playing all styles of hand games.

Historically, hand games was played in the event of intertribal conflict to settle disagreements to prevent warfare between the tribes. Nowadays it is played between tribes to win money in tournaments, gamble for materials which are typically luxury Indigenous artisan work (ex. Beadwork, regalia, moccasins, drums, etc.)



We encourage and believe people of any backgrounds and playing abilities, from beginners to traveling competitive players, can join our organization. If you are a beginner or unfamiliar with the culture, our team captains are more than willing to teach you everything you need to know.

USD Medical Students for Choice is an educational group that provides students the opportunity to learn about reproductive health - including abortion, birth control, and gender-affirming care - and how to become physicians that support reproductive health care access and choice for all patients. We hold educational workshops with faculty and informational sessions with local and national pro-choice groups. Our goal is to create a positive group that helps eachother build self love within others and themselves. We will have two meetings each month. The Safe Space Meeting is where we will discuss a certain mental health difficulty and provide a specific comping skill one could utilize to help. The other meeting is an activity night in order to create a stronger community and also provide students a way to express themselves. Some activities could include canvas nights, movie nights, game nights, journal nights, etc. Overall, this club is intended to help students cope with the stressors of school, and help them find themselves and love who they are.

AAG matches student volunteers with residents in a local long-term care facility. It is the duty of each volunteer to attend all monthly group activities and to meet with his or her "adopted" grandparent for at least a one-hour weekly visit. Weekly visits are scheduled at the convenience of the student-volunteer. The elderly individuals enrolled in the AAG program may be isolated from their friends and family and are often lonely or depressed. Throughout the program, our volunteers transition from strangers to valued companions. In the process, volunteers often gain empathy and compassion while simultaneously becoming an important part of their grandparents’ lives!

BPLP matches USD student volunteers with students from Vermillion Elementary School to form a special friendship throughout the school year. Big Pals are expected to spend a minimum of one hour a week with their Little Pal, as well as attend monthly group events. These excursions may include roller skating, bowling, going to the movie theatre, visiting the zoo, and more! The Bridges program gives students the opportunity to spend time with clients of the organization SESDAC, a facility located in Vermillion that serves individuals with disabilities. Students have the option to spend one hour a week assisting with activities at the SESDAC center or spending quality time with residents in group homes. There are also group events that take place throughout the year, including attending sporting events, caroling, the Special Olympics, and more!

Background: Sigma Delta Pi, La Sociedad Nacional Honoraria Hispánica (The National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society), was established on November 14, 1919, at the University of California in Berkeley. Within this national organization, there has been a continuous and energetic campaign to establish chapters in English-speaking Universities and colleges where advanced Hispanic studies are offered and supported by the administrations. The Sigma Delta Pi insignia is the royal seal of Fernando and Isabel, representing Castile, León, and Aragón. The Society’s colors are red and gold, and its flower is the red carnation.



The purposes of our Society are:

To honor those who attain excellence in studying the Spanish language and the literatures and cultures of the Spanish-speaking peoples.
To honor those who have made Hispanic contributions to modern culture better known in the English-speaking world.
To encourage university students to acquire a greater interest in and a deeper understanding of Hispanic cultures.
To foster friendly relations and mutual respect between the nations of Hispanic speech and those of English speech.


To qualify for Sigma Delta Pi membership, students must meet the following requirements:

Eighteen (18) semester credit hours in Spanish, including at least three semester hours of a course in Hispanic literature or Hispanic culture and civilization.
A minimal GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0-point scale in all Spanish courses.
Rank in the upper 35% of their class--sophomore, junior, or senior.

Tiospaye Student Council began in 1957 as the Wapaha Club when a group of American Indian students at USD became concerned about student life and retention of Native students at USD. They worked to provide assistance and orientation to Native students, while encouraging American Indian high school students to attend college. Wapaha Club also strived to bring an enhanced understanding of Native American history and culture to USD. 53 years later Tiospaye continues to uphold the objectives and values bestowed by the Wapaha Club. Tiospaye also hosts one of the largest cultural events on campus, the annual Wacipi, held in the spring.

Eligibility Requirements

Because our program is funded by the U.S. Department of Education, students must meet certain eligibility requirements. To participate, a student must meet at least one of the following criteria:
Taxable income (not annual or adjusted gross income) meets the federal low income eligibility guidelines
Be a first-generation college student, meaning neither parent has a four-year college degree
Have a documented disability
Each participant must meet all of the following criteria:
Be enrolled in classes at the Vermillion campus
Be a citizen or national of the U.S., or meet the residency requirements for federal student financial assistance
Demonstrate an academic need. This need will be assessed on an individual basis and may include an evaluation of college GPA, admission requirements for one's degree program, high school grades, ACT scores, and/or English proficiency.
